New here, inherated this tractor from my father in law and it seems like a great machine but I have heard so so things about the kaw liquid cooled engine. Anyways i recently rebuilt the carb and changed the valve on the bottom of the float bowl and a new battery to get it running again.

Then when I was using it to plow and got off to change the plow blade direction and forgot to set the brake and it **** off... sat back down and no start no crank. I have looked areound on here and elsewhere about both the ignition module as well as the off delay module. So when i sit on the machine and turn the key i can hear a relay in the ignition module buzz a little bit. I also checked voltage to the starter and it was low (.5 v) and then I tried to jump the starter and no go.

I just want to know if buying this 172 dollar module might be the fix.

Thanks

Kyle

Before I spent $172 I'd do a bit of trouble shooting. Start with a fully charged battery. Clean the battery terminals and the cable connectors. Be sure they're tight when you put them back together. Be sure to check the chassis ground for the battery, especially for paint preventing contact and a loose bolt. Now check the battery voltage. Fully charged it should read almost thirteen volts. While monitoring the battery voltage hit the start switch. It may drop to eleven or twelve volts while the starter is cranking. If it doesn't crank now would be the time to check the starter voltage while cranking. If it's still only half a volt you need to sort out what's between the starter and the battery. Usually that's some sort of solenoid or relay. These will frequently click or buzz under a low voltage condition. This should give you a feel for what's going on.

Welcome to TBN. As noted, more likely a battery /connection issue. If in doubt , have the battery load tested and cycle the PTO switch a time or two. Clean fuses while you clean the terminals. The ignition components shouldn't cause a no crank issue. If no joy, which indicator lights are illuminating in the ignition switch module and can you roll the engine over using the PTO clutch bolt?

I agree with the trouble shooting but feel like I have done a bit of that... the fact that it started and restarted a few time while plowing (when i would change blade direction) and then suddenly nothing leads me to a part failuer rather then a loose connection, my reading on here suggests the "time delay module" or the ignition module. my trouble shooting thus far shows good battery voltage (13v) however only .5 to the starter. that combined with the fact that i could feel the relay buzzing with the key in the start position lead me to think maybe the ignition. ill do some more trouble shooting later, thanks all
