JD GX345 Fuel Pump

I have JD GX345 whoose fuel pump was leaking from the vent port... After smelling fuel and getting a no start condition,,, I replaced the fuel pump,,, but them noticed that I was not getting any fuel to the pump.. I then reinstalled the old pump, which was pumping fuel to the pump.. I could clearly see it going into the filter,, but not holding upon release of the starter.... I returned the pump to my dealer, and returned home with the new one... After installing and getting tractor to start and run for about 3mins or so,, I thought I had fixed the problem.. Then it fell dead and has never restarted... Later I found that the pump was broken at the plunger point... This made 2 pumps in a row,,,, I would not think both could have been bad pumps...
