It does have a electric clutch doesn't it? If so then sure the charging can affect deck engagement. I have a old 240 with electric clutch that had a engine swap to a twin cylinder B&S and the engine came from a unit that had a manual deck engagement, no electric clutch, and the alternator was only 1 amp and the deck would start disengaging a half hour into mowing (until battery drained down). I had to replace the stator to a 10 amp all is well now. bjr
