JD D105 Disc

I am looking for information on this disk. There is a neighbor that has one for sale for $400. What I would like to know is the weight, and if I can still get parts for it. It is really in good shape from what I saw so far. The unit measures 6'6" at its outer most point.

I currently have a 31 hp, soon to be 35. Will it work? The dirt is usally hard pack, but I normally rip it prior to disking. I have a 60" right now.

Assuming it's an updated version of the model 100 integral disc, about 900lbs. (Book on model 100 says 138lbs per ft. average, depending on disc spacing/blade type) Safe bet Deere will still stock parts. Not much that they DON'T carry parts for. A 6'-6" disc that's intact and in working condition is EASILY worth $400. Safe bet that you could turn it for a small profit if it's too much for your tractor, which I suspect will handle it just fine, provided it isn't too HEAVY. I don't know what sort of tractor you'll be using, but a disc of that heft might need a few suitcase weights on the front of the tractor to counter the disc's weight. Anything above 30 hp should move right along with a disc that size. Dad used an 8' pull-type behind 32 hp (2wd) for years. That was on hilly ground too.

i have a 105 disc i'm not sure on its weight, although i would guess it to be around 500lbs. you can still get parts for them from jd. i think mine was about $275 but i had to replace a disc when i got it, i saw one at the jd dealer and they wanted $400. mine has smooth discs all the way around, if you're going to be in some hard ground you may want to get some cutters for the front gangs, if you get it. i use mine behind my jd 790 mostly w/ loader on for extra weight/counter balance and fwd on, as that disc it just a bit big for the 790, my old 2010 pulls it w/ ease. in soft conditions the 790 will spin if your not going the right speed and it doesn't like to turn as i have r4's, so i just go back and fourth instead of trying to turn and get stuck.

Thanks for posting that picture. Obviously, the 105 ISN'T an updated model 100.

By the way, it isn't a good idea to try turning with a mounted disc still in the ground anyway. That puts incredable stress on the frame. Much better off lifting for turns.

i tried turning once w/ that disc as i never used a mounted disc b4, only transports. i just about buried the 790 in my soft ground, thankfully its was soft. i think that 30hp and up is optimul for this disc. i def agree w/ some extra weight. i looked at the discs that are made for the small tractors and they don't even come close to what the older makes have.
