JD 855 front engine seal leaking

This forum continues to be so helpful....I am hoping someone else has had experience with this problem too. My front engine seal is leaking badly and needs to be replaced and I am thinking of replacing it myself. I don't have the yanmar engine manual, but was hoping someone would have some advice. After looking at the jdparts schematic, it looks like it is a one piece seal, so am I correct in assuming that I would need to pull the front engine cover off and access it this way? I sure would appreciate some help on this one.

You don't have to remove the front (timing gear) cover. The seal is a
one-piece unit that seals around the crank pulley. Once you pull off the
pulley, you can get around the edge of the seal and remove it. Installing
the new one is easier. You will need a puller to get the crank pulley off.
If this is the first front seal replacement, I suggest you install the new
seal slightly deeper (1 mm) into the cover than the old one. This places the
effective part of the seal up against an unworn part of the sealed surface.

This turned out to be a much easier fix then I initially thought. I was able to get the pulley off without too much difficulty with my trusty pry bar. Now a $7 seal and I should be good to go. Thank you for the advice on seating the new seal a little deeper too.
