Hey guys,

I'm trying to help a friend of mine, who is the new owner of a used JD770. He says the power steering is a bit jerky and is trying to find out where to add power steering fluid. He lives about 4 hours away from me, so I can't look at the tractor. My initial thoughts are, it's all hydraulic.. one fill point.

I have a 1999 4200, his is a 1995 790.

Anyone know if this is a separate system,.. or all hydraulic? Where does he add power steering fluid?

Thanks -Jeff

It's a common sump. Two pumps, one for power steering one for everything else. The dipstick is on the rear of the tractor near the top link bracket. The fill hole is on the top of the rear sort of under the back of the seat. The power steering option on a 770 added a spin-on filter just in front of the left rear tire. My 770 pumps will whine if I don't run the John Deere Hy Guard Lo-vis oil.

Thank you for the tip on location, been trying to find the spin on filter. Suspect from other tread that it is under a plate. Will know more tomorrow.
