John Deere 755
Good evening,
well i finally bought a box blade and reserved myself some time to work with my project tractor.........i am the one who sturggled with a list of issues, most notably low oil pressure and non-working mfwd. Well, those are now successfully corrected thanks in part to advice from you all. i tried to use my new box today but found that the 3 pt takes an extreme amount of time to drop, but only when tractor is warmed up well. Works great when cold. Takes about 2 minutes to drop when hot.....?
i have turned the spigot in/out several times and it does not improve. i was hoping that would be it, but no luck..
i did change hydraulic oil and filter and used jd oil and filter. Dealer sold me hy-gard regular, stating that regular and low vis were both approved and regular was about $10 cheaper.
Does this sound like an oil quality issue or possibly something else? I have had 3pt hitches that would not go up, but never one that would not drop?

BTW - this is the first i have used the tractor so i have no clue if it did the same thing before i changed oil and filter..

Any thoughts as to why the 3 pt hitch will not drop when hot?

Thank you,
David in sunny SC

My 950 has and adjustment to control how quickly the 3 point drops. I assume the 755 has something similar? I’d start there.

Thanks for input Timberhole. I mentioned spigot, because it looks like a house spigot, and i was referring to the adjusting knob under the seat. I have searched online and found that some people found that turning this knob in/out several times seemed to free up the valve, but it did not work for me. Funny though, lift works great when cold, and the hotter it gets the slower the lift arms drop. It always raises nice and fast. Seems sort of counter-intuitive to me, as i do not think Hy-Gard is a multi-weight oil. So, surely it is not getting thicker the hotter it gets.

Any other thoughts?
