Hi all.
Need help with a starting problem ..
I picked up a JD 750 (1986 vintage) a few months ago .
I wasn't able to run it much until i got new tires for it and fixed the starter on it .
When i bought it , it guy i got it from ,said it was a little hard starting , but ran fine once started.
It took maybe a 1/2 second shot of ether , down the intake, while cranking it and it would fire right up .
Even after sitting for a month ,outside in 20 degree weather , all it took was a quick shot of ether and it started like it had been run a half hour ago .
Now comes the problem .
I ran it for about 2 hours pushing snow , and it ran fine.
I shut it off , to go get some more fuel , before starting on my son's house.
Came back within a half hour of running it , put in 5 gal of fuel, and it wouldn't start back up .
Not evem with a shot of ether,
I went thru the owners manual, and bled all the lines , fuel filter, injection pump etc. even though it wasn't run out of fuel.
I got good fuel flow up to the injection pump, and a little bit of flow up at the injectors .........not sure if it was what it should be or not .
I don't see much smoke comming out of the stack while cranking it , so i don't think it is getting any fuel .
Is there anything in the injection pump that could "STICK" ??? and keep it from pumping fuel.????
Is it likely that the pump could just GO BAD , after it was shut off.
Like it said , it ran fine when i was using it and when i backed it in the drive way to shut it off.
I would hate to have to buy an injection pump for it , especially if it turned out that was not the problem
any suggestions welcome ,
thanks in advance
Joe
