J-D 1023E
I bought the 1023E with 54" snow blower three winter's ago. First problem was with the PTO shaft in the front support bearings ( which support bolts I'm assuming weren't properly tightened when the dealer installed but there's no way of proving that ). Late last winter the drive chain in the snow blower jumped the sprocket. Two weeks ago the drive chain broke. So what's going on here? The entire drive train for the snow blower looks to be a bit Mickey-Mouse design . .

Have you oiled/greased the the chain regularly? I give mine a squirt of oil every time I use it.

RAD strikes again.

My JD/RAD 47 inch 2 stage for my LA115 is also junk. They shipped it short of parts to JD in 2011. I did not know it was short of parts until a friend at another JD dealer found a service bulletin for the problem.

You need to check the sprockets too to see that they are not loose.

Just be sure to grease the Mid PTO if it has a grease fitting on the front flange for the transmission.
