jd 5100m 3 point lift arms sinks.

when i park my tractor for the night i lift the 3point arms all the way up. when i come back the next morning, I start the tractor and i can lift the 3point arms up a couple of inches. Is this normal? after a week or so, the arms sometime falls all the way to the ground... I do not have any load on the arms...

when the tractor is running you can hear the hydraulic is compensating and working. (lift arms go up and down) you can not see this with you eyes...

anyone with a simular tractor know if this is normal?

Hello to Norway 2orodd
Sounds like the second observation (lift arms go up and down) is a matter of adjusting the linkage according to the service tech manual. Hope you have that manual..
The first observation, drifting down when engine off, then there is a certain acceptance of this drift "allowed". Again, think the service tech manual will give you the troubleshooting procedure to see if outside the accepted drift.

I agree. May be an adjustment needed if the arms "cycle" up and down slightly while tractor is running.

Downward movement while parked is not uncommon. My Kubota maintains it's height if there's no attachment on the 3pt. My Ford drifts downward. My JD maintains it's height.

That's not normal. I think the things it does when the tractor is running and the drifting downward when the tractor is not running are the same problem.

This tractor looks new??? Is it under warranty??

If it is under warranty you need to contact the dealer for repairs.

Re: 2017 jd 5100m 3 point lift arms sinks

Not sure if a tractor your size has it but smaller tractors have a knob under the seat that controls the 3 point drop rate. Try turning that valve all the way closed. If it stops or significantly slows the drop rate then it's likely something on the control valve side. If the 3 point drops just as fast with that valve closed then leakage internal to the lift cylinder (torn piston seal, etc).

If your tractor is double acting then forget what I said!

Very good point and an easy test. :)
