John Deere 5045
I have a 2013 JD 5045D with 71hrs on it. I started the tractor and let it idle to charge the battery, I went to check on it after approx 30 minutes and the tractor had died. I noticed a fuel leak from the rubber hose coming from the tank to the filter,
I replaced the hose and used a small 12v pump to push fuel from the tank forward. I bleed the fuel filter then opened the bleeder and fuel return line at the injector pump. (fuel flow good at the pump and out the return line, I tried starting the tractor and no luck), I then loosened the fuel lines at the injectors and no fuel came out so I removed the 2 fuel line I could get to on the injector pump and no fuel comes out of the pump. I did remove the 12V pump at the tank and reattached the hose to the fuel shut off valve.
Don't know if I messed up using the 12V pump to bleed the system but I definitely have screwed up something, I do have 12V power to the fuel shut off valve on the top of the pump.
Can anybody help me with this problem???

Try unhooking the wires that are underneath the inj. pump..
Follow them up to the disconnect point or simply unplug it at the coolant sensor..
Once that's done, replace the fuse for the inj. pump.. good luck.

I will try that in the morning. I did check all the fuses and all were good.
Thanks

I tried unplugging the coolant sensor and double checked all the fuses but still no output from the inj pump.

Not sure what kind of pump you used, but unless it had a lot of pressure, I doubt you did any damage with it. I have installed several pumps on 5000 series for permanent use for cab tractors especially. They seem to have problems getting fuel to stay primed due to the low position of the fuel tank. You said you bled air from the return line at injection pump. I would loosen the supply line from filter at the pump and be sure all air is bled out at that point. Then loosen the lines to injectors and crank while pumping the hand primer or with your electric pump reinstalled. These pumps seem more contrary to prime than most in my experience. There is a rubber packing in that fitting from filter to the injection pump that should probably be replaced also. They tend to get in bad shape after loosening and tightening a couple of times. If installing electric pump permanently, choose one with 5 psi or less. Another thought occurred to me also, with only 71 hours use in 6 years, injection pump may be gummed up with stale fuel or algae build up. May need to be disassembled and cleaned.

Thanks for the input, guess I will load it up and take it to the local JD dealer in the morning!

Good thinkin JD110..
I ran into a very similar problem.. for some reason the pump ate itself..
The customer was a VERY GOOD customer at the local JD dealer & they covered it under warranty to keep him, after he threatened "to go Red"..
His tractor had less than 100hrs but was 3-4 years old..

I did call the factory and had a "case number" assigned so when I get it to the dealer to diagnose if it is the pump they will decide whether to help or not.

I think that's the correct course of action..
Depending on the Deere warranty, it might be covered..
Its probably gonna turn out to be stale/old fuel gummed-up the innards of the pump..
Good luck & please let us know what the outcome was.. Thanks.

WELL, THE PROBLEM IS THE INJECTOR PUMP, waiting on a call from JD factory rep to let me know if they are going to help with the repair cost ($2400.00 parts and labor for new pump) Pretty steep upkeep
for a 6 year old tractor with 71 total hours!!
