I'm trying to help my dad help spend some of his hard earned cash, and he wants either a Kubota L4330 or a JD 4610. I'd like to hear from anyone who has knowledge or experience with either one of these machines. With either one he wants a shuttle shift manual transmission (not hydro), loader with heavy duty bucket, backhoe, top and tilt and other goodies. He's not going to look at other brands, he's having a hard enough time deciding between orange and green.

Well, all I have to say is if he's not willing to look at other brands, he has more money than sense /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. He can buy a comparable Kioti (orange) tractor for thousands less, and have more standard features and as good equipment as he could get with either of the other two. As a matter of fact, the Kiotis are still made with most all steel, very little ABS plastic. That puts it first in my book. Sorry not to adhere to your post, but I couldn't resist as I looked at all of the available options and chose Kioti. At 50 hours, I'm not sorry a bit. John

You will get lots of differing opinions but I would say go with the JD. I make my living with tractors and would not own any other brand.

The one advantage to the JD, is that he can have the shuttle shift and get the power reverser for loader work, which will be a great bonus /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do we only see Kioti orange /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Maybe he didn't have a Kioti dealer around him /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif When I was looking I didn't have one in my area that I would have dealt with due to their attitudes when I called on the phone. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Sorry couldn't resist putting your statement in Green

I agree Ray. Pretty poor taste to throw such a blatant post in when the guy said he didn't want to even consider other brands. There isn't a kioti within 200 miles of where I live. I wouldn't buy one if there was.

I would go with the JD. I've had a 4600 now with 1800 hours on it now and it's been trouble-free and bulletproof. It's done everything and more I've asked of it. The power reverser is very nice. When I was looking at the two I could get the JD cheaper. People in other areas get the kubota cheaper.

For me it would come down to Price/Dealer/Test drive.
Any one of these could be the tie breaker.

I'm sure he has his reasons. It is in very poor taste to tell anyone they have more money than sense.

Anyway, You are looking at 2 of the best machines made (in their class). I would determine which dealer is best by:
1) what kind of discount they offer you
2)do they have good parts and service
3)how long have they been in business
4)their reputation in the area

I too, looked long and hard between green and orange. My dealer is great and he sells green. I don't regret it one bit and folks who know me often ask me for advice. Does that mean I don't have any sense either?

Not really an advantage, the bota has hydro and glide shift options for the tranny besides the base model full sychro manual shuttle.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was going to point out that Kubota's GST is also a shuttle shift that seems to function similar to JDs. As far as other brands, we have a New Holland dealer in the area and he wouldn't even go there. He's having a hard enough time deciding between Kubota and JD. Myself, personally, would consider any and all brands, but it's not my money. I know the Kiotis are great, but they don't have anything in the 45 hp class yet, do they?
