JD 4610 - first tractor?

Hi, I have the chance to pick up a nice John Deere 4610 for sale. I see this tractor was only produced for a couple years before the 20 series was produced. Any concerns over a ten series vs a twenty series? Since the 4610 was only produced for two years, I'm not able to find much data on how it performed or if there were any issues.

Very good tractor. Solid built. If I recall correctly it had a yanmar diesel. I had one I put about 400 hours on. Shuttle shift. I had no issues. If it is in good shape and maintained it will be a good tractor for you. The 20 series next gen after the 10 series went with a in house John Deere engine. Good tractors but engine can have some issues and expensive to fix. Internal injectors that can leak. It is a dealer repair item. One injector replacement can cost $2700 or more. Takes a dealer with computers and special equipment to fix them. Look it over good and don稚 be afraid to buy it if it checks out.

It's pre-Tier 4 so it won't have all of the anti-diesel pollution fixtures that today's tractors have to have included. Make sure that you get the Owner Manual with it.

If I am reading this correctly, the 20 series could have expensive injector problems?

I was referring to the 20 series being expensive to fix. John Deere built engine. 10 series was Yanmar with replaceable external injectors. If you look at the Newest series like the 4052r John Deere went back to Yanmar engine. 10 series is a well built tractor that does not have all the emissions crap. Good luck on your purchase.
