I have a 4x4 Model 4600 PowerReverser with a leaking right front hub seal. I removed the hub and checked on the local dealer site, where oil seal #35 on the schematic shows to be part #LVA14181. I ordered the oil seal from my local JD dealer but when it came it the replacement seal is a double lip design whereas the seal I removed is a single lip design. I asked the parts guy about the difference, he said it's possible that the double lip seal is a design improvement, but he doesn't know for sure. I paid $39 for the seal, so it's not like I'm ok with giving it a try and then replacing it if it's the wrong seal. Anyone have any experience with this subject?

Agree with Harry -double is better than single here so long as the dimensions are the same

I guess if I had to choose, then I'd lean toward the single lip for things that see a lot of dirt, not much water, and aren't protected with felt wipers. That would be most axle seals or hydraulic cylinder seals.
But I also don't think it makes much difference. If it were mine, I'd use the seal you have in hand if it fits.

seal kits LVA14181 or SJ14405 question . the SJ14405 I ordered by mistake I think? consists of two identical seals with outer orings.Before I disassemble the hubs would like to be clear which are the correct seals. No help from my dealer and no instructions in the shop manual. 2004 4710 tractor. Is the SJ14405 only for a newer model housing? any help appreciated
