I think you should buy the Kubota. Then you can make all your posts in one section. JC

Come on... I've read a fair number of posts regarding the praises of the JD 455. Most users regard them as fairly "bullet proof" and worth a premium if you can find one in good condition and reasonable hours.

I don't know much at all about the BX1500.

$4,700 for a 455 sounds like it's on the high side of the prices I've seen here and there -- Ebay, TBN, etc.

Maybe LBrown can fill us in on the virtues of the BX machine. Maybe $5,700 is too much money for the BX and if the seller won't move on that price and the other JD guy will.... then the 455 might just be a better buy.

1*Rite; but that don't make a 3500 dollar one worth 4700 bucks.
2*Especially since I just saw a real nice one with 500 hours at the JD dealer a while back for $3500.
3*Keep in mind it's new with warranty and zero hours.
It also has 4 wheel drive , rear PTO and 3 point hitch that the jd455 don't have.
$5700 is way less than the 7500 to 7700 I've seen at most dealers.

Well.... that seems like a pretty straightforward equation --- especially if the BX1500 has a longstanding reputation as one of Kubota's better units.

Don't know about that... does the BX stand out as a solid tractor?

The math is real clear. And the features --- well, it wouldn't be that hard a decision to make.

Hmmm! All I can say is you answered your own question.

Offer $3200 for the 455, and be done with it.
