JD 4450 MFWD not disengaging

I have tested the solenoid and it works fine. You can also hear the piston moving back and forth when power is applied. However when I removed the valve the "o" rings seemed to be fine but there were very fine metallic filings in the filter screens. I cleaned this up with air and reinstalled and still it will not disengage! Could there be a pressure problem or something more serious. The large gasket seal around the clutch housing is leaking as well if that indicates anything.

Check to be sure the MFWD solenoid is getting electricity as it must be energized to disengage frt shaft

Yes I'm getting 13.6volts at the solenoid and it is energized when the switch is in the off position. I can also hear it click.
As well when I drive the tractor and toggle the button to disengage the FWD you can feel the little hesitation in the movement however the driveshaft is still turning.

The driveshaft will turn do to the front wheels rolling on the ground even when mfwd is disengaged.

I feel foolish if the driveshaft still rotates when disengaged . I thought that there would be a disengagement from the MFWD clutch to the driveshaft and it would stop turning.
