I am looking, but can't decide between these two and the BX2200. I think I have a price on the BX, and would like to see what the JD models with a 60" deck and 3 PT hitch and PTO are going for.

I was quoted just above 9K for a 455 yesterday. Dont know which deck. Doesnt really matter, seems like the BX out specs it for the money.

What's your planned usage? I looked at the 445 and 455 before I got my BX - and am glad I finally went with the BX. A major reason for me was that the local JD dealer was super-arrogant. But, aside from that, the usefulness of the cat 1 hitch, the 4wd and the general beefiness of the BX swayed me.

It all depends on your usage though - the 445 and 455 are fine garden tractors - a couple of the local lawn-mowing services use them (not yet switched to ZTRs!!). It's just that JD's pricing is so high that they are forced to compete with the BX.

Having said all that, my Kubota dealer tells me that the primary reason he hears for switching to the BX is the 4wd. Mowing hills and plowing snow appear to be the reasoning locally (SE PA).

Hope this helps - I'd be interested to hear your planned usage.

Best of luck with the decision.

Wayne,

forgot to mention - that 3pt on the 445 and 455 is a cat 0 - difficult to get implements for.

I finally got the JD445 and am happy so far. Yes, the options are limited with the CAT 0 hitch, but I have found some places on the web where some things llike tillers, plows etc can be found.
Some of the things that swayed me was the cruise and the other was the seat/and ride on the JD.

Congratulations on the 445 purchase! I'm sure you'll enjoy it - like I said, I looked at one myself before I got my BX.

You might want to post some of the information you found for cat 0 implements here -- it would be great to hear more about what people are doing with their 4xx series JDs.

I'm sure the BX owners on the board would be up for some friendly to-and-fro also. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Cruise, I found that useless but perhaps you need it on a large open lot. I have to stop turn, speed up, slow down to much on my 6 acres to ever bother with a cruise control (let's see--useless cruise control or cat 1- 3 point?) and the hydro pedal on the BX is so light and easy to use--oh well--hope you enjoy your new tractor. Yes--please mention some time where you found cat 0 implements--especially things like aerators etc. Good luck and enjoy your new tractor. J
