Found this on the Ontario Canada craiglist site. JD 4410 TLB for a super low price. Too good to be true I think.

Here is the response from the "seller" to my emial.

It has been never wrecked or damaged.It will be shipped directly to your address.I am located in Texas.
The asking price is $4800US, shipping included. All the manuals and the original
documentation come along with the tractor. You will receive it in
2-3 working days at your home address. It is
insured in case of damage.
The payment is fully refundable. If for any reason you do not accept the
unit or if it has scratches, hidden defects, or it is not as
advertised I will even pay for the shipping back to my location if you
reject it but i'm sure that it won't happen cause it works and
looks perfectly.
I believe it's a large transaction and would like to conduct the deal using an authorized third party as eBay using their Purchase Protection Program , so that should eliminate any trust issues. If you are a serious buyer and still interested in this tractor please reply with your full name and shipping address so we get the ball rolling. I will forward your details to ebay and they will notify you regarding our deal.

Of course that is a sham. I see at least 1-2 ads like this every day on our local craigslist site. I just flag them as "spam". They usually disappear from the site within a few minutes.

Geez Ductape, I can't - I just sent all my money to a nice gentleman from Africa who said if I sent him $ he would send me back more.

I think maybe I should tell the guy I have all sorts of relatives in Texas and am coming down on the weekend for a visit and want to come see him personally.

The old adage is always true, if it seems to good to be true..........

Every couple days there are similar ads here also...... like Lindy i flag them and they are gone within minutes. I would have figured by now they get flagged so quickly the scammers would stop wasting their time...... but apparently not. Its hard to believe anyone would fall for such a thing, but some must because otherwise the scammers would move on to some new scam.

It's ok to buy a great deal, but be sitting in the seat as you hand over the cash. That way they can't screw you out of the money.

Had on similar to that a few months ago in the Charlotte, NC craigslist. The ad actually said the tractor was located in a town about 10 miles from my father's home in NY. Even thought the cars in the background of the pictures all had Arkansas plates!

I emailed the 'seller' saying I have cash in hand, and will be able to meet you at the location listed to PERSONALLY pick up the tractor.(just to really get him excited!) He replied back with the standard scam letter about how he will arrange private shipping, he is out of town... yadayadayada...

flagged it as spam and it got removed. But for curiousity, I copied his ad title into google, and the same exact ad popped up in about 10 different city's craigslists.

dirtbag scammers.

it is sham all the way. The same thing was posted of Kansas City's Craig list. Just for the heck of it and entertainment value I sent an email and asked if possible to make an arrangement to kick the tires... No reply .. and the post was removed from the craigslist. Loader and backhoe worth the price and then some without the tractor.

Hey I stand corrected. I did receive an email from the so called seller , in this case " something smells rotten in ZAGREB". I hope they did not assume identity of a pour soul somewhere. I ain't buying it, sounds too fishy. I never buy pig-in-a poke.

Hello,

I'm Sgt. John Motson from the 134th US Army Brigade. The tractor has 72-inch mower deck and model 420 loader with 61-inch bucket. Later added John Deere quick hitch and ballast box. New John Deere model 48 backhoe with 12-inch bucket. New King Kutter 60-Inchlandscaping box blade. This tractor has been stored in heated garage since new.
The tractor has turf tires, power steering, roll bar, turn signals, lights, power beyond, class one three point hitch, trailer tow bar, 35 hp diesel engine, three speed hydrostatic drive - E transmission with E-power-reverser.
Full four wheel drive, speed match, load match, cruise control and motion match. Less than 100 hours on tractor and mower, less that 20 hours on backhoe.


I am in the 134th US Army Brigade and I was sent with my unit for peace maintenance in Croatia/Europe. Right now I am in Zagreb.

The tractor is at eBay's Shipping Center from New York from where it will be shipped. They will handle the transaction for me. You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the tractor. ONLY AFTER you receive the tractor and you inspect it (for 10 days) eBay will release the payment to me. In this way we are both protected.

Along with the tractor you will also receive all the documentation's required for registration. I will send you all the papers and documents. This is a door to door transaction and from the moment the tractor will be at your door you will be in contact with the one in charge for shipping.
Since the tractor is at eBay I have to do the deal through them therefore you can be sure that it will be done smoothly.

The amount you will have to pay in order to own the tractor is $5200 with shipping costs and insurance included. I accept only PayPal or Bank Transfer as payment method.
