Hi all,
I have an opportunity to make an offer on a 2011 John Deere 4320. It has about 1200 hours and looks like a nice tractor. I was curious where this tractor stands with the emissions systems? Is this still considered a pre-emissions tractor?

Any other issues to be concerned with on this tractor?

The 2011 JD 4320 tractor has full Tier3 emmissions system. But it does predate most of theTier4 emmissions requirements, and especially the need for a DPF.

On May 11, 2004, EPA signed the final rule introducing Tier 4 emission standards, which were phased-in over the period of 2008-2013 . The Tier 4 standards require that emissions of Diesel Particulate Matter (PM) and NOx be reduced by about 90% for all diesel engines above 19.0 KW or 25.5 Hp. The EPA also required all manufacturers to provide a full 6 year warranty on any Tier 4 emmissions systems.

Most tractor manufacturers implemented full Tier4 emmissions in year 2013 with elaborate DOC and DPF systems, that require periodic regeneration or cleaning of the DPF. Failure of the DPF system, often requires costly dealer service and repairs.

The 2011 JD 4320 tractor lacks Tier4 emmissions standards, and is considered a more reliable and highly desired tractor for that reason.

So the ask price is $18k, includes a 6' bush hog. What's a reasonable price? Overall looks like it's in decent condition. Might need new front tires soon.

Assuming this tractor is a 2011 JD 4320 and open station with loader, 1200 hours and hydrostatic and in good working order.

Machinery Pete has a typical asking price range of $21k - $23k. Fastline about 21K - 22k. Additionally, $900 for a used 60" Bush Hog rotary cutter in good working condition. If it is a cab tractor, add 3k to the ask price. Approximately 70% of the JD 4320 tractors were sold with factory cabs.

Give it a test drive, make sure everything works and functions properly. Tractor + Bush Hog at 18k is quite a good price...even if it needs new tires. Why it need new tires at 1200 hours is a question?

Sounds for a relatively good price if the tractor has a loader on it. This might explain the need for new front tires but might also be an indicatior for heavy FEL use. I'd be very hard focused on the front axle when inspecting it. IMO, the front axle is the part with most of the workload when operating a loader, no matter how much of ballast is used.

Otherwise, the 4x20 series seems to be a bullet proof series.

Thank you all for the information, appreciate all of the assistance. Yes this is an open cab unit, and yes it has the 400X loader. Not sure if I mentioned, but it also includes a Frontier RC 2072 rotary cutter.

Anyone have experience with the RC 2072 as a bush hog? I'm looking to do some more aggressive clearing, it appears to only be rated to 1" material though, which is surprising given it's cost new.

Looks like a lighter duty cutter. Good for field cutting and brush. Not a tree cutter. But most bush hogs aren't anyway.

I purchased my 2011 JD 4320 with hydrostat this December. It had 275 hours and sold for $21,000. this is everything it came with:

485 back hoe
6' JD MX6 bush hog
bucket and QA pallet forks
6' land pride disc
55 gal 3pt sprayer
3pt seed spreader
I-match

everything was very lightly used and I feel i got a very good deal on it.
