Is there anything preventing me from switching from the wider rims and tires to the Ag R1 sizes?
7.00-14 (4WD)
11.2-24

source: TractorData.com John Deere 431 tractor dimensions information

When I bought this as a noob, I didn't realize how much traction was going to be a factor living in the hills.

I'd like to switch to the Ag sizes and R1 tires. I can find reasonable prices on Carlisle R1 tires, but I haven't found anywhere except JD direct to get the wheels.

Suggestions?

Looking at the specs it looks like the 4310 may have also come with some 6 ply R1s in 12.4-24 on the rear and 7.00-16 on the front. Double check me on that in the specs.

After you decide exactly on sizes message this this eBay seller and see if he has what you are looking for. I bought my turfs from him mounted on some wheels that fit my 4310 and have a larger offset so my track is wider than stock by 6 inches. He claims to have a warehouse full of JD over stock. He may have stuff that isn't listed.

Apparently they made wheels with the same bolt pattern and center hole with different offsets so I would give him ALL the specs to make sure what he has will fit. I have seen other sellers on eBay with mounted JD wheels and tires but this guy had a 100% satisfaction rating and was very easy to deal with.

Fantastic! Thank-you!

I had originally received it with R3s. It wasn't stable enough for my needs, so I fluid-filled the rears DIY style using an adapter from NAPA, and a mix of *potassium* chloride, which according to my research would corrode less, and be less likely to kill vegetation if leaked. I used a drill pump to pump the fluid in. The fronts I flipped around making the front a bunch more stable. I think having the front slightly wider helps operationally too since you will likely see that the front is going to catch or hang on something, and presuming you don't then the rears are probably not going to either, being narrower. I also replaced the front tires (it's 4x4 hydro) with R1s that a local tire store found for me that would fit.

I will contact that seller - I've looked for a minute at his store and seems solid.
Thanks again!

For more stability, the addition of spacers (I did 3") on the rear axles makes a world of difference in the comfort level on side hills.

Keep us posted on the wheels and tires... interested in what you find.

I went R1 Ag tires on both mine.

For my 4210 (different size than 4310 and 4410) I found a guy on Ebay that had JD take offs (many sets, not sure why). Not sure what they were from, but got a brand new set of tires and rims for $750 shipped. The only issue I had was the rear rim offset was wrong, and they were the 1 piece rims. So I cut out the center disc, and made I fixture to align it, then welded it back in with the new offset. With a little yellow paint, know one knows.

For my 4410, I found a guy on here that I bought the complete set with rims for I think $900. Were almost brand new. They are the 2 piece rear rims so worked great. They are also the oversized R1's they offer, and make the tractor a bit taller and looks badazz compared to R4's. But, you can't use tire chains with them which I think is why he sold them. I think I have a picture in my profile of the 2 next to each other.

Would look around for awhile, will save some money if you can find a deal.

Well, ultimately I finally pulled the trigger and left it in the hands of Les Schwab. Pape' told me that John Deere stopped making the one-piece rims I needed for the back. Les Schwab was able to get them custom made in Utah for me, to the OEM diameters and such. I now have Titan R1s front and back. I will next be looking for 3 in spacers. It's a little taller now, but I told the guy designing the rims that they can go as wide-stanced as possible.

Tons better grip. My fronts were starting to bald anyway. Nice to face winter not worrying as much about getting stuck in mud or snow.

new wheels and tires all around was $2800. Not cheap, but I plan to get my use out of them.
