One of the metal hydraulic lines at the rear of my 430 needs a new connector that screws onto the quick coupler. The old one appears to have some sort of sleeve that slides over the metal line and fits inside the connector. Is this sort some sort of compression fitting or what?

Can you take a picture? Most of the steel lines have brazed fittings on them, not compression.

I'll get one out tomorrow. The sleeve appears to have a flare on one end. Slides on the tube and the connector which is already on the tube slips over the sleeve and screws onto the fitting.

Steel tubing with a flare on the end is usually a JIC 37° flare connection. It's a very common connection in hydraulics.

There are some other flared connections (SAE 45° flare and SAE Inverted Flare), but they are not used as much in hydraulics. If you can post some photographs, that will definitely help.
