Need more information. My JD 4010 quit moving one day when the coupling between the engine and the hydraulics flew apart. Nothing worked. Of course, the steering did but not with any power. On yours, I think there's a separate pump for the power steering.
Mechanics at Virginia Tractor said they'd never seen it happen before. I didn't look it up on my repair CD that I've since given away to another 4010 owner, but I think it had something like the flexible disc at the engine side in line with the U joint at the hydraulic end, similar to the driveshaft on our 240D that we had.
I wasn't too interested in finding out exactly what happened because I'd decided to trade in for a new one the next year. Just did it one year earlier. Traded for a JD 1025.

No noise before it quit? Sounds as though the part like on my 4010 came apart (made a noise), a pin on the U joint sheared (no noise) or the U joint came apart. U joints generally make popping noises at times before they come apart.

This flex disc failed on a bunch of JD CUTs from the 1999-2001 era. I believe our rental yard had 7 or 8
4300s get a warranty replacement.
Virtually all of these units will eventually experience electric interlock intermittancies as they get older.

Hmm. Dealer here said it was a first.
Never failed in 13 years on our 240D.
The 4100 and 4010 shafts had a little bend in them at the U Joint. The Benz shaft is perfectly straight as the differential is fixed in place with swing axles out to the side.
I'd think with the bend that they needed 2 Ujoints instead of flex disc and U joint.
