I am fairly new to restoring antique John Deere tractors. I have never had to do any major work inside the engine on my previous restorations. I just bought a 1954 JD 40c. There is major scarring on the cylinder walls. I was wondering if anybody knew if you could put sleeves in the 2 cyl motor or if I had to go about this in a different direction. Any input would be appreciated.

Here is a breakdown of the engine. Don't see any sleeves.

There are no sleeves in the 40 popper, could sleeves be made and put in, probably,, I've seen overhaul kits at .125 overbore for these sooooo it has to be Real bad before sleeves need to be considered,, even then there are alot of used blocks around.

Thanks for the input. I will try another route. Sounds like the best thing to do is bore it out and just get larger pistons. Thanks again.
