I'm a newbie to all of this so forgive my ignorance. I have decided on a JD 3320 open cab w/ a 300cx fel and a 5' woods box blade and 5' bush hog. One dealer recommends the "new" 375 backhoe and another recommends the Woods BH70-X. I'm confused. Is there an advantage of one over the other? With the other rear attachments, I would need to be able to remove it fairly easily/quickly. Do the Rockshaft brackets stop being able to put other rear implements on and off quickly?

Quoted $6,800 on the 375, with Rockshaft assist brackets, and $5,650 on the BH70.

Any suggestions?

Wow, never even heard of the #375 before, but I just checked JDparts and its listed with the 47,48 and 447,488 that have been available for years:confused:

There is also a new #485. I am thinking this is the new series available for the cab models, since the other ones wouldn't work.

The will be no issue removing the JD hoe-there mounts are superb and well-engineered. Woods makes a good hoe also-but I like the JD stuff.

Woods makes a great backhoe. I really like the looks of the groundbreaker series. But one thing I like about the JD Backhoe vs The Woods is: The John Deere Backhoe seems to have a much better transport position than the woods. The only thing I didn't like about the woods is that the boom doesn't seem to come back far enough. I like to have the boom vertical or even just a few degrees past vertical when it is in transport position. Also I think the deere has a far superior mounting and dismounting system. But the vertical transport is important to me because I don't like to make the machine longer than it has to be. This is one of the main reasons why I like Case backhoes over the competition.

According to the dealer, the JD mounts with a Rockshaft Assist Mounting Bracket (I assume this is a 3ph mount). Is this a semi-permenant mount which would keep me from using a imatch system on other attachments?

I don't know about the 375 mounting. But the 448 I have, and the mounting system is the best of any manufacture. I seriously looked at the woods but didn't like pivot between the two arms. It looks too flimsy to me, I did really like the thumb option of the woods hoes. It came down to a dealer demo and the 448 is a monster of a hoe. (realtive to this size machine)
It sounds to me like the 375 and 475 are the models compatible with cabs.
I paid around $7500 last year for my 448 and power beyond installed. The woods was comparible in price. The other negative of the woods is how far it hangs off the machine. I think machines should look like a tlb not a tractor with a hoe slapped on the end. Go with the deere you won't regret it.

The JD mount sytstem is not a 3PH mount in any way. There are permanent brackets / subframe mounted to the tractor. The "Rockshaft Assist" only relates to the part where the upper 3ph arms help to lift the whole assembly into place prior to being "pinned" to the subframe with removable L-pins.

As stated by others if everything is adjusted properly, it's very quick and easy to remove / install the JD hoe. I-match is compatible with the system once the 3 PH arms etc. have been reinstalled. The MMM can also be installed / used without removing the permanent BH brackets.

It is not three point hitch mounted. The lower draft arms and sway bars are removed and top link. They have brackets that bolt to the chassis and stay on. You just reinstall the three point hitch when your ready to do that kind of work. It takes about 5-10 minutes for the whole unhooking and reassembly process. It will not keep you from using the imatch system or an other cat. 1 attachments.

The new backhoes will fit the cab abd open station tractors. The 375 will replace the 447 and 485 will replace the 448 backhoes.

375 stands for 3 is for 3000 series and the 75 is for 7.5 foot digging depth.
485 stands for 4 is for 4000 series and the 85 is for 8.5 foot digging depth

hope that clears it up.

Thanks. That clears alot up. So, in your opinion, is the jd 375 the way to go vs. the 448 or woods BH70-X?
