I have a two year old 2520 with 70 hours on it and from time-to-time the power steering just quits, or is hard to steer. What are the possibilities of what's wrong?

I had heard of this problem early on with the 2520's, is your machine still under warranty?

I had a new 2520 in July 07, it had same problem at around 70 hours also. The loader would only go up 1/2 way and had no down force to dig. Backhoe was just fine. Dealer took it for a month and replaced power steering part by fuel tank, didn't fix probem but I needed tractor, in fact now transmission made noise. Took it back around 120 hours and they had it for 6 weeks and swapping parts per JD support, not fixed so I upgraded to a 3320 in Dec 07. I know they fixed it but, it sat on lot for a while before they sold it.

Note: I had replaced hyd oil just before I took it in. They found LOTs of metal pieces in the filter screen ( I saw them ), but I think a lot of people see that 1st change.

The fluid is fine on mine, and has been changed twice already. It now has like 175 hrs on it, and the power steering at times does not work.
Its weird, because its random, and usually when I am straining it some. Its impossible to turn when going super slow in tight areas with a load on the loader. But it only does this a couple times in like 3-4 hrs. Its really random.

Anyone else find a solution?

i had a 2520 and if you have a load in the bucket and were in 4wd, you probably couldn't steer if not moving or going real slow. the 4wd makes it bind just enough to make if feel like the power steering is not working.

I often felt they should have had a slightly bigger cylinder for the steering....

my 3320 now is alot better, but now that i've moved the front wheels to the wide position i have the same problem, give a little to gain a little i guess.....
