John Deere 2520, 200CX Loader, 62D Mid Mount Mower, 5' Box Blade
Here's what I'm up against: I have a 2011 2520 that I bought new in 2011. It has the 200CX loader and 62D mower deck. It has 106 hours on it and all I've done maintenance wise is the 50 hour service. The manual doesn't call for another service until 200 hours but since I'm not racking up the hours on it I feel the oil should be changed at least annually.

Do I baby this machine? You bet!

If this were your tractor, what would you guys do? My dealer was great with the sale, but the service department is quite lacking. Other dealers want an arm and a leg to pick up and deliver the tractor, and I don't have a heavy enough trailer to haul it to them.

What services would you guys recommend at this point? Also, would you just do these services yourself?

Thanks for any input or replies!

Usually for the engine oil change, the manual will say 200hrs or 1 year which ever come first. In your case I would change it every year. As for the rest, I say follow what is recommended in your manual.

Thanks for your reply Henri. I just needed some reassurance that I wasn't crazy. If nothing else do exactly what the manual says even if the dealer contradicts!

I concur, change the oil every year and doesn't hurt to change the hydraulic fluid every 3 years if you haven't it the hours interval. Keep the air filter clean and change the coolant every 2-3 years.

Probley wouldnt hurt to change the spin on fuel filter too.. Your gonna find that He Man tightened it at the factory.. I could not get mine off (factory installed filter), so asked the dealer what they use. Their response was a strap wrench, then asked me if I wanted them to take it off? I said whats that gonna cost, he said nothing Im still under warranty. They came to my house, and after working on it for 5 mins got it loose, but destroyed their strap wrench in the process.. I removed it the rest of the way and I installed the new one.. Cost me nothing to have them come out..

Once the factory fuel filter is off, any others you install will come off without a problem, just make sure you lube them up before install.. I think factory ones are installed dry..

That's interesting. All I can figure is that they put that filter on dry too... I can't think of another way it would really seize up like that. At the 50 hour service the oil and filter were changed & it came off without an extreme amount of effort with a strap wrench. I really envy you guys that have good dealers close by. There's no way mine would have done that without at least charging for transportation, whether in or out of warranty. There is a good dealer about 70 miles away that I'll buy my next machine from, and in the mean time I'm in the market for a trailer to haul it with. Worst case if it ever breaks down completely I'll be able to winch it up on the trailer and haul it to those guys for help.

Either way, thanks for your reply!

Makes you think a dealer COULD lend a trailer for customers bring their own tractor to and from the dealer only. It would help a lot of people out. I do have my own trailer but it would be a nice thought.
