My John Deere 2520, I constantly find my storage hook for the center link 3 point hitch is bent open and will no longer hold it in place. I have bent the storage hook tight so the center link snaps back into it, but after mowing my yard, I look back and find it has bent open once again the the center link is hanging down. I have never inadvertently snagged the 3 point center hitch to create this, it has always done this. So far the only thing I can come up with is the hook is made with a too soft steel and doesn't have enough spring to it. Anyone else having this issue or have any ideas? Thanks.

I'd call your dealer and let them know. Ask if they'll replace it.

Sounds like bad heat treat (although I doubt if it's supposed to be head treated) or made from the wrong material. This is the first time I've read of this kind of problem. I'd wager your problem with the hook is unique.

I have had the opposite problem. On day one, I bent the bracket that holds the hook in place with my boom pole. The next week somehow I bent the hook so the top link would not go into it. I don't know how that happened. I used a pipe to bend it back and have not had anymore problems with it yet. JC

The one on my 4010 is the same way. I use a tension cord to hold the top link in place when I have it up there in the hook.

Same problem on my 2210, the I-match raises the 3rd arm so that when you raise an implement all the way the arm smashes the hook. I took the hook off, with the I-match always on the tractor I didn't need it anyway.

Same problem with my 4310.Arm falls out sooner or later.????????

I took my hook off when I installed the I match quick hitch. I have removed them from customers tractors also that were equipped with I match.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. For now I will just remove the center link from the tractor and talk to my dealer about it. Good design, looks like a poor choice of materials though.
