John Deere 2305 (2010)
Gents,

I have a 2010 -- jd2305 with 250 hours. Grease for the u joints on the driveshaft is hard when installed. After buying all kind of adapters, I started pulling the drive shaft down myself every 50 hrs and greasing the two u- joints (spider) while off the tractor. With that said, found one this morning that's going bad. I called the dealer here in Orlando- $49 each. I seen here on TBN that some have changed to the ones with the zerk on the cap. Using PUJ 410. Or Napa C410. Part numbers. Has anyone done this on a 2305 ? Can't seem to find a thread posted about it.
Thanks in advance for valued imput

Regards, Bill V

For any that read this thread... I ordered a regular 410 u joint- ( no "c". Or "puj" Just put in on. The star shaft was a 1/6th to long. Hit it on my polish grinder, cleaned up the holes with a dremel sanding drum and it all fit perfectly. With the zerk in the end of the cap, no more dropping the shaft to grease. Cost $44.00 for both

I put them on, had to grind 1/6th off the post for snap ring to fit. Cleaned up hole with dremel drum sander. No more droping shaft to grease. Worth the $44 dollars do both

Wvanatti, thanks for the information. Although pretty scarey, since it sounds like you have kept it greased all along and it still went bad at 250 hrs. Makes me feel a little uneasy about my 2025R drive shaft now.

Sorry for the double post, iPhone with big thumbs....
Yes, bought the 2305 new, didn't learn about the hard to reach zerks till probably 150 hours. Started dropping the shaft and greasing every 50 hours. When I dropped it last week, I could feel the slop and grinding on the forward u joint. No one replied. to my first post so I ordered the plain 410 u joint. I couldn't be happier. I'm able to grease both. I haven't tried to do it with the deck on, but sure I can. The zerks on the end of the cap are genius. On a side note : being cheap, I tried to drill one of the caps on the old one, so I could put my own zerk in. Couldn't get any carbide bit to cut it. Like I stated, the only modification was - had to grind a 1/6th off all for post to shorten it. If not, the snap rings won't go into the groove.
