After 11 years on 7 very muddy acres, we finally bought a tractor! I am learning slowly :). Last night, after 4 hrs of mid removal, I moved to a different chore to relax: harrowing the arena. But I can't get the harrow level. The odd part is that after adjusting it, it pulled straight, then lurched and dug too deep to the left, lurched again and dug too deep the other way. What do I need to do? The sway seems way too much, and I don't seem to be able to get the harrow to sit level even to eyeball it, let alone during use. Help! (And thank you)

Mary K,

Can you provide a side view photo of attachment and tractor. Easy fix.

Hello and welcome to TBN:)

To adjust front to back level lengthen or shorten the 3 point hitch top link. To adjust side to side level, lengthen or shorten the adjustable side link that connects to the right side lower link arm. Adjust your check chains that connect from the lower link arms back to the tractor to control the amount of implement sway. Raise the implement with the 3 point lever and push it side to side and make sure the chains are short enough so that the implement will not hit the rear tires.

By adjusting these points a little at a time and trying it out you should be able to get your harrow running and digging smooth.

Thank you for the advice. I hadn't realized how tiny adjustments make huge differences in side-to-side leveling so think I've got that part licked. As for the sway--it seems tremendously loose to me--but are you saying movement doesn't matter so long as it doesn't come near the wheels? I had no ocea it was ok to have so much play.... Now I'm struggling to get the top bar level--I find the adjustment physically difficult to manage.
On a happier note, I moved an awful lot of muck today without killing anyone. Whacked my gate once but nothing happened luckily. Can't believe how real a tractor this little 2305 is. It looked so small at first--but it works huge! Tomorrow I'll tackle the front/back level of the harrow and tackle the arena. Thanks to all you tractor people. I'll be back with more carefully written questions tomorrow ;-)

Mary, lets see if I can help here with some pictures.

This is the side to side level adjustment. Its on the right side 3 pt arm. It will have a jam nut you loosen then turn the adjustor. Threading in will make the implement lower on the left side, and threading it out will make the implement lower on the right side.

This is the side to side sway. The two gold turnbuckles above the drawbar. There is a ring clip on each side to lock the position in when adjusted, rotate them off, then adjusting them will tighten up the side to side sway. Start adjusting them each, threading them in till the 3 pt is centered. I like to have somewhere between 1/2 to 3/4" side to side sway on the 3pt.

This is the front to back level. This is the top link adjuster. There will be a jam nut to loosen, then threading it out will lenghten it and tip the impliment to the rear, and shorting it will raise the rear.

Note in the picture the quick hitch is tipped forward. If I were to thread the top link out, would push the front back and level the quick hitch or implement on the 3pt.

For the top link adjustment and the side to side tilt, park the tractor on level surface and lower the implement just barely touching the ground and do the adjusting.
