Getting water in oil in my John Deere 2240 diesel. Pulled oil pan and pressure tested water system to 14 pounds, but found no leaks.
Took head to machine shop and had it tested also, pressure and vacuum test. No leaks there either. Head gasket showed no signs of leaks. Head not warped.
Apparently only leaks when engine heats up. Is the next step to pull liner and seals, or is there something else to check?

Pay me now or pay me later. Those operators who don't change the coolant or add a corrosion inhibitor additive to replace depleted chemistry. They get to purchase sleeve/piston sets instead.
There is a high compression piston set that starts better in the winter.
Has this engine ever had a snort or ether? Instead install a block heater and a front pump de-stroker.

Don't know anything about the history of the tractor. Owner got a new one and gave this one to me if I can solve the water in oil problem. Is there any way to check for internal leak in the block between oil return port and water other than by pulling the oil pan and pressuring up the water system, before I change liners and O-rings?

My guess is pin hole in a liner. With head removed I know of no way to check for leakage

That's consistent with what other sources say. Will change out liners and seals. Thanks for your replies, guys.
