On John Deere's website, the survey suggests a 2210 would be ideal for my use. (Mowing an acre, plowing snow on a long drive, spreader from the 3-point hitch, etc.) Does anyone have any experience on how well the MMM 62" cuts? I am looking for a very nice, smooth cut on a very visible lawn. Also, do I need the I Match for a rear Woods blade and Hurd spreader? Finally, should I consider stepping up to a 2305 or is the 2110 sufficient? (I do not need a FEL.) Is there any other model I should consider? Thanks for your feedback.

I'm new here myself. The 2210 is no longer produced the 2305 is the replacement. I had a 2305, it is a great tractor, from my limited use and from all I've read here. I went up to a 2320 for the full Cat 1 capability and the higher stance and ground clearance. From what you've described, the 2305 sounds ideal.

I don't think the 2305 is a step up from the 2210, rather just the new model that is replacing the 2210.

A step up from the 2210/2305 would be the 2320.

The 2210/2305 only has a "limited" 3 pt hitch, which I understand to mean it won't lift 3pt implements quite as high as a "full" 3 pt hitch. If you'll be doing a lot of work w/ implements on the 3pt hitch you may want to make sure the limited 3pt is sufficient. The other main thing a 2320 would get you is increased ground clearance.

Depending upon your personal preferences either a 2210 or a 2305 should be very sufficient for you what you need to accomplish. That being said, I have a 2520 for a 1 acre yard, but don't look to me as a point of reference, it has been well established that I have serious issues when it comes to tractors.

Happy shopping.

OG,

The 62C on the 2210/2305 cuts beautifully. Here's a pic: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/grf58/Striping_0006.jpg
You do not need i-Match for the blade or spreader, but it might make things easier for you to handle. The spreader works pretty well on the 3PH too: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/grf58/3PTSpreaderFull_0006.jpg

Greetings OG,
The 2210 & 2305 are virtually the same machines as the others have posted. I had a 2210 prior to my 2520 and it was a fabulous mower. It'll more than handle the tasks you've listed. I can't say to the compatibility of the iMatch and the items you've listed. But I would HIGHLY recommend the iMatch. Just be sure you check compatibility before you buy ALL of your attachments... including JD stuff. I just picked up a Frontier Spreader that even needed a little tweaking to match up. Regarding the FEL... it's a fantastic tool that most of can probably get along without... UNTIL we get one. Then you'll never want to be without one :D ... handy tool.

These guys have pretty much nailed it. The 62C deck cuts great! I'll venture into an area seldom written here on TBN...

Maybe you could (gasp!) go smaller like a 455 or a X series. You can find these used for less than a new 2305 and they run the same MMM decks. When you say you don't want/need a FEL it may make sense to take a step down. I love my FEL on my 2305 and my wheelbarrow is officially retired. :)

Good luck with your decision!

Scott
Guess it depends on how much you plan to use the 3pt hitch.

Get the I-Match...You will never regret it. I saved some money by getting the SpeeCo Quick Hitch at TSC. It is very heavy duty and fits all my Woods implements perfectly, no adjustments or fabrications to the implements. There is one important difference between the JD I-Match and the SpeeCo. On the SpeeCo the top hook is adjustable up and down giving the user some flexibility if needed to help match up to an off brand implement. The I-Match top hook is fixed in place. I did spray paint the SpeeCo hitch JD green to match:D .
