Which Kubota does the 2210 compare itself to?

Is the frame size in between a BX and a B?

Does the JD have more to offer than a Kubota for the money?

Thanks

Dave, The JD compares to the BX 2200. I think the size is very close.

John Deere compares them to the B2410 HST & BX 2200 on their website. As far as who offers the best stuff, that is kinda subjective and it would be best for you to go actually test drive/operate the models you are interested and draw your own conclusion. Both makes are great tractors.

I went through that not long ago. I found them very comparable and the price was within $50. There are some different features.
Just go get on both and see which one fits you.
I have 43 hours on mine now and am glad I got the thing. Get a FEL which ever one you decide on, it is the tool you never knew you needed.

If you do an objective comparison of specs and capabilities, it will come down to personal comfort and your expectation of service and support from the dealer. If the dealer I went with sold only Kubotas instead of Deeres, I'd have a Kubota BX.

Hi Dave

I think the Bx 2200 and 2210 are in the same class. I thought I wanted a Bx2200 for over a year anb then JD came out with the 2210. My dealer has both so I could do a side by side test, the price was withing 50 bucks so that is not a factor. The JD seemed to be just a bit bigger, weather it is because it sits a bit higher or the hood is a bit wider, I'm not sure but it just seems like more tractor, I think the JD was a little quiter and maybe a bit smoother running engine. I liked the JD foot pedal better, I'm sure you could get used to either one but seemed my foot didn't want to bend backward to go into reverse. I think the Kubota 3 point hitch is narrower, heard of some problems hooking up things, they both have limited lift compared to the larger tractors, have to be careful on some implements like rakes and blades. I was also concerned with the lift capacity of the Bx front loader, I think it is 400 and some pounds and the JD is 620, the Jd has no problem lifting a full bucket of dirt, not sure if the BX will or not, but seems a bit light. I did like the BX front end, the front axles and steering cylinders were much heavier then the deere. They are both good tractors, you have to drive them and decide which fits you best and which dealer you like. I bought the 2210 and after almost 50 hours have no regrets.

Ask the Kubota person how you know when you are at the correct PTO speed.

I guess you need a trained ear for a certain quantity of revs /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif!

I always thought a quality built tractor should have a tach.

I'm a new BX 2200 owner, so I guess I'll weigh in here and risk a green/orange war.

If I had my choice, I'd take a temp gauge (BX has) over a tach. Both of these tractors are designed to be run near full throttle in order to obtain the 540 pto speed and provide optimum engine cooling system performance.

I looked at both tractors before I bought and had confidence in both local dealers. I liked the fact that the BX has been out for nearly 4 years and is constructed of metal. There may not be a problem with the plastic fenders and operator platform of the 2210, but 10 to 20 years of ownership will tell. I just think the plastic has a risk of getting brittle with age and taking on a dull/faded appearance. At least with metal, in 10 to 20 years you can shoot it with a fresh coat of paint and make it look new. I think both machines exhibit quality for the intended purpose though, they just both had different ways of doing it.

The issue of a tach is a non-issue in my opinion. On a larger ag style tractor definitely, on a subcompact no way.

I think both the BX and JD2210 should have both the tach and temp guage. FWIW, the 2210 makes its rated engine speed below WOT, and I assume that would be the case for the BX. If I liked one tractor over the other, I wouldn't let that (either shortcoming) dissuade me from my primary preference.

There are differences in the 3-point hitch that are notable. The 2210 Cat 1 limitation is only from its ability to lift an implement to a specified height, and from the weight limitations. Both just a smidge above the BX, The shortfall in this category on the BX is the spread width on the lift arms, and the difference is enough to limit the sources for some implements. I know there are enough resources identified here at TBN that this may not be much of a concern either.

Another FWIW, I can't wait to trade in my 2210 in five or six years for something bigger or better, so I won't be able to report back on the hypothesis that the plastic will fade or degrade /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
