Now that we've had 2' of snow, I'm thinking it's time to invest in a snow plow for my JD 2210 CUT. The FEL / bucket did a decent job but the plow would have made the job easier.

Is the JD front snow plow assembly 54" or 60"? Is it a quick connect setup like the FEL?

Hi,
I have a JD 2305, with a 54 inch blade. it goes on differnt than the loader... it is not difficult. after you park your loader. you would need to install the plow/snowblower subframe, next the quick-tack front hitch, and four hoses, and finally the front blade.... it takes me about 10-15 min to go from loader on to snowblower/front blade on.

When I bought my tractor I was going to buy the front blade, but after you buy the blade and all the parts to attach it you have spent more than half of what it would cost for the snowblower, so that is what I bought. I later bought the front blade used.

Have all 3 FEL,FB,SB,and rear blade..
My 2 cents worth
First year for blower, bought used about 1/3 cost of new one. Bought it up at Boonsboro ,Md Just above you in Harpers Ferry Reeses I believe
Do a search on TractorHouse.
I like both ,for deeper now maybe the blower more so than FB
But you just can't beat the front blade with angle. You can get close to your garage door or wall then back blade . yes if I would have had rear blade on yesterday would have made a big difference when I was using the blower.

I doubt your 2205 will push the plow without the use of chains.

Best bet would be a rear snow blower. This is what a friend of mine in Winchester uses on his Kubota.

Then just use the FEL in areas where you can't find a place to direct the blower discharge with safety.

We once had 7 inches of sleet. The snow blade on my Gravely wouldn't touch it. So, I put on the old (must have been 20-30 years old but in perfect condition) square chute snow blower. That sucker didn't even bog, just hunkered down and blew the sleet about 50-75 feet into the air.

I have a JD 4115 with a 6 1/2 ft Curtis power angle fel blade that worked well Sunday. I don't know if Curtis makes one for your tractor but you may want to check it out. This was the first time I tried the blade out and like I said it did a good job. I don't know how much bigger my tractor is than yours but it shouldn't be too much. By the way I am also in the Harpers Ferry area. If you need to see the setup just let me know or pm me. Larry

I have the snow blade for my JD2210. I've used it a couple times since buying. As ChrsDrn described, it's fairly easy to put on.

It's very easy to use and as mentioned is great to clean against the garage doors or a sidewalk. I've got a blade for my ATV but it's mechanical angled. I never use it, too lazy to get off and change angle. ;)

I first used my JD2210 without chains. I have a section of driveway that's elevated above the yard. Got too close to the edge and found myself down in the yard trying to get back up on the driveway. Went back to the shop and installed the rear chains (too lazy in the beginning) and get along fine.

Prior to this machine I had a JD455 with the same blade. It mounted closer to the machine on the 455 and I liked it a lot better.

The 2210 carries it quite a ways in front of the front tires which makes it less manuverable in tight spots and also makes it a little harder to control height if trying to carry it. I built some adjustable circular pads for mine and it works a lot better than the factory little flat bar pads.

I don't get enough snow to justify a blower. But it was hard to justify the $1200 I spent for the blade too.

Forgot I had these pictures. They show how far forward the blade is. If you can look closely you can also figure out how it installs.

I have plowed 2 feet of snow with my FEL on my 2210. It takes a lot of time to push it all away to make room for more. For that much - which we are expecting for Christmas day actually- I wish I had a blower. I don't have to bother with chains as I have the HDAP tires which are great in the snow. I think a front blade might be a bit faster than the FEL as you don't have to cycle a bucket. I started out with a 72" rear blade but the 2210 *** was too light and kept sliding sideways when angled. I now use a 60" rear blade which I use to push back snow when I back up, then push forward with the FEL, repeat. It takes about an hour to push 2 feet of snow from in front of my garage and push it more than 50 feet out into the field where it came from. A snowblower would make it all disappear without all the fancy maneuvering and ramming. Plus you know you gotta watch that there is no ice buildup on the loader frame beneath the bucket dump cylinders or they could be damaged.
Another thought about the front blade on a 2210; steering it might be a big problem in heavy snow and I don't see that there is room for front weights with the hitch in place. I can control my rear 60' blade fairly well when backing up with the blade reversed and angled but this is very hard on the neck. Rear wheel weights are on my wish list .

That's kind of my situation here as well. I've had this tractor for 5 years and really only pushed snow (or ice) a few times. I can't see the need for a snow blower around here. This last snow we had a few days ago, I just went out and pushed the first 15" with the FEL and then cleaned up the next foot the following morning. This was VERY light snow. A buddy of mine has the same tractor. He uses his snow plow attachment to clear a long driveway. He's added weight and uses chains, and it seems to work well. I basically need to keep my main driveway open, and then the driveway that leads to my pole barn. I helped out the neighbors with this last snow as well.

I appreciate all of the responses. I'm checking with Reese's and a few local places for a used snow plow. I'll also look into Curtis to see if they've got anything that'll fit my rig.

Excellent info on this site.. thanks.
