JD 2210 review. Had \'er for a couple weeks now...

My baby is a 2210 with 2 speed Hydro, 4x4, mid and rear pto, 3 point hitch, 23 hp yanmar diesel, Imatch hitch, HDAP tires and grill guard, 62" mid mount mower. Got a 210 loader with 53"bucket and level indicator, 72"Frontier rear blade, and a 49" frontier tiller, all for 15300. She's an impressive little machine. The HDAP tires -mounted on this machine by fate alone, not available otherwise- give this tractor as much traction as the powertrain can handle, sometimes more. The 210 loader has a 620 lb lift capacity, I've popped up small stumps with this thing. And I can remove the loader in seconds. The 72" blade is sometimes a bit more than the tractor can handle yet when I reverse the blade I have an impressive dozing capability. The tiller pulverises hard packed pasture ground, and the tractor had plenty of power to handle it. The 62" mower is a breeze to remove and mount. The engine again handles tough grass with ease. I've run this baby up to seven hours on a single five gallon tank of fuel. Cons? The mower lift mechanism is "Mickey Mouse" as can be. I've bent the link twice now. And with no mid hydraulics there can be no rear attachment when mowing. so I bought the Imatch. Overall an impressive machine indeed. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

mgat,
What "link" on the mower lift mechanism are you bending? While I agree that the lift mechanism is not one of JD better designs it should and does work when properly adjusted. Are you sure your turnbuckle is adjusted to the proper length? You should not be bending any links.

If the link is bending, it is not setup properly. I know we had a few bend upon initial setup, but we have learned to be careful until the adjustments are made.

I am confused here.

I'm confused too. You can lock the mower in the up position and use the 3 pt to your heart's content. And with the right hoses and possibly a diverter valve, the SCV can come into play for rear hydraulics.....you just can't use the loader and rear hyd implements at the same time.

The key words are when mowing. I am assuming that the 2210 like my old Bolen diesel raises the belly mower via linkages to the 3 point hitch. When you lower the mower you also lower the 3 point hitch and any implement that is on the hitch. It sure would make a mess of the lawn if you had a turning plow on the hitch when mowing. When you are finished mowing you lock the mower in the up position and then the 3 point is free to do it's thing.

No, I should NOT be bending links. The first item was a yoke on the lift link bar which bent when the rear blade became hung up on a rock and lifted too high, the tiny retainer popped out of the pin and the yoke was bent as the pin slipped out of it's hole. The second bent item was the lift link bar itself. My fault trying to adjust the mower height and level not knowing what I was doing. I had discovered the dealer hadn't properly adjusted the mowing height and tried to adjust it myself so I could mow. oops. I now have sturdier retainers in the link pins so they don't pop out and the mechanism is now properly adjusted so we shall see.

Re: JD 2210 review. Had \'er for a couple weeks now...

I tried to be clear. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif the mid lift is connected to the rear 3 point lift. What's more the rear lift arms must remain spaced with a spacer bar when there is no rear implement or Imatch to keep the mower lift from slipping. any rear attachment would mess up the lawn if you tried to lower the lift and mow. But you can lock the mower in the UP position to use the rear lift independently. These "problems' are overcome with an Imatch.

I do mow with my tiller attached occasionally. The MMM will lower all the way before the 3PH does. You just have to watch the deck to see when it stops. Although, if you had a tall attachment, I suppose you could have problems.
