I just finished wiring in some LED lights to the ROPS of my tractor. I used a 20A fused lit switch hooked to the + of the battery. My question is can the lit switch drain my battery down if it is lit all the time even when the tractor isn't running? My thoughts were yes and I pulled it out after I shut down for the night. I will post pics this evening after work.

If it's just the light in the switch that's on, the yes-it will drain the battery but it will take a while if it's only a LED indicator. Sounds like the switch is not wired correctly, that should only be lit when the big lights are ON.

ANY light will drain the battery if it's on without the engine running.

Kenny glad you chimed in. I looked at your posting before I undertook the project. My switch is just three connectors from the auto parts store. One is from the battery, one is ground and one is to the lights. The instructions that came with them showed the hook up this way. What did I miss?

Try switching the battery+ wire and the wire to the lights...the LED should only be lit when the switch is ON.

Cost: Lights (free knew a guy) and $6 for shipping them, $13 for the switch, wiring and fuse kit at local autoparts store.

Specs: (2) 7" 10 LED Work Lamp Rated @ 1200 Lumens each can be loosened and turned around 300 degrees, only restricted b/c of wiring.

kennyd the light switch was exactly as you said and now works correctly, thanks for the suggestion. It made sense after you said it and I thought about it for a minute.
