Winter is here and I am thinking of a cab for my 2210. What have you other 2210 owners purchased? Can you attach pictures of your cabs?
I just don't know how much money I am willing to spend. Since I can not just go to the dealer and look at them, I need your help.

Let me know what you can.

Not a 2210 owner, but I did just get a Curtis soft-side put on my 4210. The soft side will cost quite a bit less than the hard side. I mainly wanted the cab for the winter protection, and the added benefit of the soft side is the doors and back curtain come off during the warm weather, giving me basically a canopy. Curtis makes a great product, but if you want one before the snow flies, you better get one ordered NOW!! Otherwise, the orders will backup at Curtis, and it may be spring before your's arrives. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I have the curtis hard sided cab on my 2210 with the heater and console on the celing with the raidio. I love it. I didn't order till december and i didn't get mine till a little later then march. The hard sided doors and rear windows can be removed in a few minutes on the hard sided as well. I'd go with the hard sided cab cuase it has the windows on the sides and those are very nice cause it gets pretty hot inside there even after you shut the heat off and if you open the front window all you can smell is exhaust. heres the link for the post wtih a few pictures of mine from last winter, tractor looks a little more worn now but its got the same stuff. The only problem is if its above like 40 degrees the thing fills up exhaust. I am waiting for the engineers at curtis to call me back about this. I got pretty sick last year right after winter was wraping up and i didn't take the doors off yet. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Board/custom/Number/614546/page/0/view//sb/5/o/all/fpart/1/vc/1

jdgreg,
Thanks for the advice. I am sure I don't have much time left. Great point.
The canopy idea is great. I find myself driving in the rain a lot, in the summer, and that would be nice. I am really worried. I have temps -20 or lower for many weeks here in VT. How will the soft side hold up in such cold? The hard side will be around for 20 to 30 years or more. The softside... how many years will it be here until it cracks? I am really thinking a lot about that. Also, Will it turn yellow like a convertable car rear window?

ctc1111,
I had just found your post right before you replied. You sure documented it in those photos. Great job! I did not know the rear window was removable!
How much does the side widow open? Enough to stick your head out? I could not find any pictures anywhere on the www of the windows.

If anyone knows of pictures of the softside, let me know.

I have seen some pretty good pics of the Kubota but it is different.

There is a post in the 'customize' forum where somone used a golf car cab from northern tool (tarps and covers section) on their tractor.. For only around $100 it might do what you want..

good luck

Here you go. Too bad Sims does not make a cab for JD2210, I love my Sims cab. I pull it off in the summer, very easy to do.

I'd say that the windows open up a good 6 to 8 inches. Not really enough to stick your head out, unless you want to hurt your neck when you hit a bump. But they're sure helpful while moveing snow in a parking lot for about 6 hours in the middle of the night when the snows flying. Cause even if that heater blower is off it still heats up the cab because the coolant is still flowing and radiating thoughout the cab so it gets hot in there after awhile.

I went over to the JD Dealer and for 1 hour and 15 minutes I could not decide. The soft side might not last 30 years but very removable in the summer. Well at that 1 hour and 15 minutes... a tractor pulled into a garage bay with a brand new Hard Side that was just installed. The second I saw it up close I said... "Bob, I am getting the hard side". Wow, it is just like sitting in a truck. I can pull up to the mail box and still get the mail, with the windows that open on the door. It was really nice but I have to wait untl 12/16/05 to get it. I hope it shows up early but I am told to expect it to be late. I went for the upper console and hopefully I can go this winter with only the defroster fan. I don't have the time to install the heater unless I really need it.

I just bought the Curtis Soft Sided for mine. It should be installed next week. Supposed to be in production this Friday at the Curtis plant. I will call the dealer on Friday and have them check on it, already got wet and cold twice out there and its early yet. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

So, how does that Golf cart cab work in the snow? Do any of the windows open up? Do they all fog up &/or get snow coated to where visisbility is an issue? If so, how did you deal with it? Were there issues with heat or reflection with having the work lights inside the vinyl.
Thanks,
Jim
