JD 2155 won't accelerate

Working on my JD 2155. It will only idle, nothing more. I did have water in the fuel. So, I drained the fuel filter, then checked to make sure I had fuel going in to the injector pump. That was good. Then disconnected the lines coming out of the injector pump, it would spurt fuel as I turned the engine over. Also, the linkage is moving on the fuel injector pump when the tractor is running and you operate the accelerator, just won't rev up.

I have drained the fuel (and it was nasty,) tomorrow will put on a new fuel filter and new clean fuel in the tractor.

Any other ideas?

Just draining the water out of a filter hardly ever works. Especially on the wknds when you cant get a new one. Haha. Putting a new one and fresh fuel tomorrow should do the trick.

Drain the junk out of the tank might help too, or flush out the fuel lines with something. Diesel Fuel additives are also good to add with your tank of fuel.

If by chance a new fuel filter doesn't cure the acceleration problem then check for blockage in the fuel return line & inj pump fitting from the pump to the tank.

OK, got the fuel system drained and new filter and clean fuel in. Didn't help that much, maybe a few RPMs better. Blew out the return line, it helped the RPMs by a few hundred. Can get it up to about 900 RPMs when you hit the accelerator to full throttle. Drops to about 550 or 600 when at low idle.

Any other ideas?

Did you clean out check valve(parts key #2) in the return line fitting? Be sure the kill cable is allowing lever on inj pump to go to the ""full run"" position.

Thanks. Actually, I can't get the check valve off as there is not enough room to turn it. I can get a wrench on it, but it is hitting the thing the pump mounts to. Man, I am going to need this tractor for raking hay here pretty soon too.
