JD 2020-What\'s It Worth?

1969 John Deere 2020 diesel (no loader), 600 hours on rebuilt engine, new clutch, new hydraulic pump, good power steering, no leaks. Metal in decent shape. The hood has a little boo boo but no big deal. It hadn't been started since last summer and took a few cranks to bust off. After that it purred like a kitten. Tires are in good shape with one new back tire.

The guy is asking $6,500 for it. I think it's a little high. What do you guys and gals think?

That price would be about right if in good shape AND has a FEL. Otherwise, its just a tractor for pulling things around, IMO. $4-5k would be my estimate, but being as it is Deere, may have to add another $1000 to it to be at market price.

Depends on what the plans are. If needing a good basic tractor (plowing, tilling, 3pt attachments, pulling trailers and wagons, etc. ) then it may be worth that money to you without the FEL.

Saw one at a JD dealership in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Fresh paint, 6000 hrs, no FEL, no ROPS, no implements. Descent shape. No idea if any engine, drive train, or hydraulics work had been done.

The dealer was asking $8,000. It was gone in a few weeks!

BTW, you can buy a brand new current model JD 522 loader for the old 2020. That'll run you $5,000 to $6,000.

Thanks for the info guys. Maybe it is worth his asking price. By the way, I don't need a loader on another tractor. I have one on my 4610.
