John Deere 1830
Hey all. I am having issues with my FEL operation on my JD 1830. Have already spent some time and cash on this, but am looking for a bit of advice.
Tractor is the Mannheim version out of Germany. FEL is operated off rear SCV's. My mechanic (brother in law) rebuilt the hydraulic pump and did some work on the transmission pump. Changed a bunch of seals and lines.
The issue is that the loader is slow, often barely moving. Apparently, there is full spec flow and pressure out the rear fittings.
Today I noted that if raising the 3PTH while operating the loader, the 3PTH travels faster (up or down), no change in loader speed.
Speculating whether I need to plumb the loader into the high pressure side of the hydraulics and bypass SCV's.
Any help is appreciated.

It possible the connectors on your hydraulic hoses are not allowing full flow or wrong ones for the rear remotes.

Would wrong connectors make for an intermittent problem? Sometimes the loader is faster (still slower than should be expected) and other times it will barely move.

I am thinking the tractor is not plumbed correctly. All the valves should be plumbed in series if open center.

If the tractor is an open center hyd system, the pump feeds direct to the remotes and the PB from the remote goes to the 3pt.

The remotes control the loader, and that means that if the loader is getting all the pump flow, how is the 3pt getting anything.

With the remote levers in neutral, does the 3pt work normally?

You could redo the hyd system and add a FEL valve if you know where the high pressure lines are.

The logical approach would be something like this. From the pump high pressure to the IN port of the FEL valve.

The return/OUT goes to tank.

The PB from FEL valve goes back to the remotes.

The remote PB feeds the 3pt, and the OUT/return port goes to tank.

You might re-check all fittings to see if they are restrictor fitting, which will slow down the fluid.

Are you returning the 3pt lever to neutral?

Thanks for all the feedback. I believe that model of tractor is closed center. How do you tell if they are a restrictor fitting?

I have been returning the 3PTH to neutral (I've tried all positions actually).

If that is true, then the valves are in parrallel.

If you have a restrictor fitting, the flow volume will be less with restrictor in place. It is used to slow down the hyd volume.

Only the operating valve should have fluid at the work ports.

Each valve should be independent of the other, but all valves can work at the same time but will share the volume.

The pressure line should be going to the IN port of each valve.

Install a 3000 psi gage in a tee at the IN port of a valve and take some readings.

You should have a pressure IN hose and an OUT/return hose and four work ports for the remote.

You can remove one of the cyl hose and place in a bucket and see what kind of volume the pump is pumping.

Do you have float on the remote valve?

This is a list of JD closed center tractors I was looking for.

Vapormatic , Tractor Parts , Online Tractor Part Search

Select application, then John Deere agricultural tractor

This tractor is closed center.
Are you using the rear SCVs to directly power the loader? or power a valve that controls the loader?
If you switch to an idependent valve for the loader tie (with a tee) the pressure line for the valve right after the the pressure control valve, in the line that feeds yor rear SCVs. For return line get a ported transmission filter cover and hook the return to this port.

I have found poppet style quick couplers flow better than ball style.

If you are using your rear SCVs to control the loader its possible you are moving the lever too far and going into float.
