I have a @1990 JD 170 lawn tractor that would start but quit at low rpm or when shut off would not restart. Wait an hour and starts right up. I determined it must be flooding. Changed out the float needle and cleaned carb. Put back together and will not start at all. Just cranks and cranks. Acts like not getting spark. Checked for spark with tester and appears ok. Spark plug is getting wet. Drained an cleaned carb again. Before allowing gas to carb I sprayed some starting fluid into carb. Did not fire. I'm stumped.
