JCB Mini CX

If there were awards for weird threads.......I bet I would get the prize! Has anyone had any experience good or bad with a JCB Mini CX loader / backhoe unit? These units were primarily made for the rental industry. The JCB website shows this unit to be very stout. I also talked with the closest dealership and they have had none in for service problems. I am considering buying one which has + - 400 hours and is less than 12K.

I've owned a couple of them and they are real stout. Nice controls on the backhoe, smooth. The only issue we have had is venting hydraulic fluid out of the top of the hydraulic tank when you work them hard. Makes a mess. Also, the front axle pivot has a grease zirt that probably never gets greased, so at around 500 hours it may need a bushing...then grease it.

I just got{allready put over 50+hrs on it} a JCB mini excavator{8015} for under 10,000. It is really one tough little machine, was a home depot rental with 400hrs on it. For the size of the machine I can not get over how strong it is and how usefull it is. It will dig down over 7' with a reach of around 12' and a dump height of 8'. The only problem I can find {nothing has yet happened} is that there are no grease fittings for the rollers{track}. I owned the jinma backhoe attached to the nortrac dozer, the little JCB will run circles around it all day long{dig tripple what the BH could}.

What do you plan to do with your mini backhoe?

Primarily use it for digging. I just sold a JD 770 with FEL / BH I had for two years. It was a great first unit. I used it for putting in a patio, driveway and some pipe. I wanted something that would be more powerful and dig deeper with the backhoe. I am going to dig up my french drain (6'-0"), probally haul more barnstone, put in some retaining walls, build a garage so there will be a footer to dig. I am looking at this unit for it's abilities and ease of operation. The same capacity in green wil cost me thousands more!

Do you think that the performance of this machine is compromized without MFWD?

I have a problem no strart de fuse 50 burn all time.
the mini cx is very good but if a people have a same problem give me a answer please.

I had one for about 5 years. good little backhoe but i sold it to get something bigger. very powerful for its size. once i sorted out the oil leaks and replaced the exhaust/muffler it ran great.
did have an issue with overheating but just removed the thermostat and no more problem. one weird thing about the mini is that uses diesel engine oil for its hydraulic system.
