Do you guys have any experience with these helmets with BOSS EQC ?

I thinking about buying something for my TIG work. It is a toss between Miller Elite and this. I like the bigger window on BOSS but I'm not sure if it is very useful?

Any experience with either one? Pro or Cons?

Which one would you buy: Miller Elite or Jackson X Halo/BOSS?

Thanks,
Peter

I have a Miller BWE. Been a great helmet. No complaints so far. very tough helmet too.

The boss is a good filter, no doubt, better than the Miller. But the HaloX is not as durable as the Miller. Its lightweight, to compensate for the weight of the filter, but its a little too flexible. If weight isn't a big issue, go with another, little heavier helmet from Jackson.

I have the Miller digital elite and highly recommend it. I don't do much tig but the guys I know who do love the digital elite.

The trusty old Jackson EQC Professional goes into the bullpen for relief, it happens to all of us eventually.....

Thanks guys.

Miller was tempting, but I went with X Halo shell and BOSS filter because of its size; for now. I think I got a good deal: $278 (shell and filter)

Peter,

You got a great deal.
Two things, both related.

1) Get the new headband from Jackson if it doesn't have it already. Its 20 bucks or so, but you won't be sorry.

2) When you are tightening down the side knobs, (and you will because the helmets have a nasty habit of creeping down) to keep the helmet up, don't overtighten, because I have seen it actually tear the headband out of the holes. The holes are so soft they will give and even rip. Another reason for the other head band as they say the headband locks in and the helmet will stay up better.
