It's snowing! Happy or Sad?

It's snowing here in South Louisiana right now. I don't know whether to be happy or sad. We usually only get snow about one day every ten years and love to see the little ones enjoy it for the first time.

But the last time it snowed, on Christmas 2004, it marked the beginning of the most unusual weather pattern we ever had here. In the 9 months after that unique snow our area had 2 floods, a couple tornadoes and 3 Hurricanes, Cindy, Katrina and Rita.

No repeats, please.

It's also snowing here in south Mississippi. The last time we got this much snow ... January 2008. This is very unusual. My wife is happier to see it than I am.

Don't need to plow or a snowblower. By 1 PM it was all gone.

I wish I had a video this morning when I put my horses out. I went to the barn and turned out an older horse first and he went running and bucking into the pasture. Then I turned out the young horse, who had never seen snow, and he ran to the end of the hallway in the barn and did a slide stop that would make his mother proud. He wouldn't go out the door and step on that white stuff till I encouraged him with a buggy whip.

I brought them in about 2 pm and put a blanket on the young horse for the first time and he let me put it on him without a problem. I went back to feed at 4:30 and he had turned that blanket into a dozen scrap rags.

I could send the blower down,sure haven't needed it here. Freezing rain all day. got the plow on the truck and haven't plowed once. Looks like we might get to play gen-set though!

There is still snow on the ground here 24 hours later. The temp is rising and it is melting fast now. I put out some dry hay for the cows early this morning and they were very appreciative.

Thankfully, I live in NE Mississippi. We only got a few flakes. I don't know how you people down south can deal with that stuff, I think I'll stay up north!
