It's a gold colored "L" shaped lever that lays flat behind the joystick. It has a very short throw (direction fore or aft I'm sure of for the lock) but does work well. I use it mostly so that when the kids sit on it they don't catch their clothes on the joystick. I'm very aware of the trouble for a joystick repair so to the best of my ability I leave the CK30 from the left side
