It's home. My first tractor. MF65

Today is a great day for me. Since we moved from suburban Colorado to rural Ohio, I have dreamed of the day that I would have a tractor to work our land.

This is a giant project, but it's the perfect time of year, and I hope to have her running by summer. The block has a rod sticking through it, but I have a whole second engine in parts. So I'll build up the engine and get it running, and then attack the other systems as necessary. This isn't going to be a trailer queen, so I am too hung up about how she looks. I'll straighten out the sheet metal, attack the rust, and paint where I need too.

I haven't pulled the serial number yet, to look up its specifics, I'll get to that shortly.

Anyway, my new baby is home!! ;-)

I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I am one seriously happy boy!!

Congrat's on your baby..!! Nothing like a winter project, to help the next three month's pass. Spring will be here before you know it.

Running and functioning is #1. Pretty comes later..!! I've got a few "sleepers" myself... :thumbsup:

Congrats. Looks like you have a big project ahead.
My 1964 MF135 diesel (bought in Jul06) looked pretty rough when I got it but it runs.
Right now I have a 1951 Minneapolis Moline BF undergoing restoration in my shop--so I appreciate the effort it takes to get old iron restored and running.

I did look up the serial number, which starts with 656, placing it squarely in 1958.

The new engine block is pretty rusty, but it's surface rust - I am just not looking forward to knocking it all off. ;-) I have a small sand blasting cabinet but I can see that I am going to need a decent sand blasting rig.

I'll post some more pictures of the pile of parts shortly, as I am taking inventory what I need to get started. I need to get the block up on my engine stand, and start cleaning it up. At least the new cam and crank were packed in oiled bags, so they look good.

Everything else is a little rough and in need of elbow grease.
