It hit 111+ degrees here in Northern California yesterday. I know this because all those folks on the radio and TV keep telling us, over and over and over etc. Bear in mind, these folks live in air conditioned homes and report this in air conditioned work places and drive home in air conditioned cars. With the possible exception of a few brief moments, they never even feel the heat much less work in it. I find the biggest whiners are those who read thermometers through airconditioned office windows. Me, I drink water like a fish (I'm assuming fish drink water and don't simply absorb it but then maybe a blue ribbon panel from congress could look into it and settle whether this cliche is accurate) and wear a hat. When I'm done for the day, sometimes I drink a cold one and toast all the whimps out there!!! hehehehe, Rat...

I hear that from friends in Arizona all the time. My pat reply is "It's a 'dry heat' inside my oven, too, but I don't want to live there." /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Rat, I am looking forward to some of that"dry heat". I am leaving for Fresno, Ca. Sunday morning. At my sisters pool, at about 10:eek:o A.M. the humidity is about 15 %. I once stopped in Blythe, Ca and the temp was 115. The next day I stopped in Hope, Ar and the temp was onlt 90 deg and it was twice as hot as Blythe because of the high humidity.

I would gladly trade away our 98 degrees with high humidity (here in Maryland) with 111 degrees with low humidity any day.

gatorboy, I worked back in Maine one summer/fall building a home. It is very different back East. For starters, you get rain in the summer, in California it does not rain in summer so from about June to October, we irrigate if we want it green. I suppose this helps account for the rather arrid or desert like climate. I also found out what humidity was. Holy socks, you aren't kidding about this humidity stuff, its like its rainning even though its not. It toughened us up though as everyday around noon the clouds formed, tinkled on us just enough to make every item out wet. Clouds went away, sun came out vaporizing the water just bestowed upon us by his friend the clouds and wham, instant invisible moisture everywhere except on our bodies, visible water ouzed out of every pore. I think we'll just keep that dry heat here and cook some turkey, Rat...

I with ya! I don't like whiners too! I don't work out in the sun by trade but sometimes being under the hood of a car and working on a hot egine is no fun. What's worse is doing a/c on cars and trucks. Always hot and then cold, it's like teasing. Like you I drink lots of water usually 4 to 5 liter bottles. 6 to 7 or more if i'm working outside after my regular job. I also like the "cold one" at the end of the day... it really tastes good!

Keep cool /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif!!

Temp was 42 this morning.

you get used to the heat so quickly .... I was riding the bike to work this morning and felt "cold" so I checked the thermometer and chuckled. It was 52 degrees. A week ago I would have jumped for joy since it was so hot ....
we are whiners aren't we? Maybe it'll be hot this afternoon so I can "justify" a cold one ... haven't touched one for ages (when I got down to just the "lite" ones).

It's a beautiful day here in Indiana today.. 77 and 42%... Last week was really hot and humid but today is the best they get. Air is off and all the windows are open.......

I do remember very well the high heat and humidity in Vietnam when I was 18. New fella's (FNG's) always had a problem with it for awhile. The rainy season provided brief relief but it was right back to steambath in a matter of minutes. When the rain came, we just grabbed a bar of soap. Tom

"It's a beautiful day here in Indiana today" - Yup. Last week we were at Holiday World in the 95 degree very humid weather. Sure is nice to get a break! We turned off the AC and opened the windows too! I lived in Houston for 2 years and hated the constant 95+ degree heat and the 85+ percent humidity all summer long. Forget about opening the windows, everything you touched stuck to you. I lived in Colorado for 5 years and that was nice, usually less than 25% humidity, but our house didn't have AC so on hot days it was hard to sleep at night, I can take the heat except when I'm trying to sleep.
