... when I found a butterfly bush and a blueberry bush dug up by a critter, it was a reasonable assumption that an armadillo did it. After all, there were several little holes next to the new blackberry bushes that looked exactly like armadillo bug-hunt scratching.
The big clue should have been when I found my new drip system bitten through in 3 places. That puzzled me a bit, but not enough to question my conclusion.
This is a problem with growing up in the city and wanting to live in the country. There is so much knowledge that country people take for granted that I'm completely ignorant of.
Anyway, I put some blackberry jelly in my box-trap, as several sites on the net claim that armadillos like jelly.
When I checked my trap Sunday morning, I finally found out what was wreaking havoc on my gardening efforts, and it wasn't an armadillo. The more savvy of you probably have already figured it out. It was a raccoon. This particular raccoon won't be digging up my bushes any more. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
