Hi everyone,
I am new to forum and to tractors. All this is very new to me so please forgive me if I am mis-naming things. I definitely have a soft spot for older tractors and need a bigger tractor and loader.
I found an older Yanmar with FEL on local listing and went to look at it over the weekend. It started right up (that was puzzling because the throttle lever was close to off position; it was hard to tell if it was already warmed up - it was a hot day) and was running pretty smoothly, clutch felt good, FEL seemed to work well, had one of those new aftermarket seats, tires were good.
It has a few issues: cosmetically it was in average condition: radiator fins were bent, body panels were crushed/beat up, dash dials not original, all operation handles were baked and close to crumbling, paint peeling on frame/engine, the fuel cap needed replacement (some are signs of being stored outside for extended period of time), no ROPS (I plan on buying one if I get it). Mechanically it was in similar condition: steering wheel had about 10-15コ play; something near the inside of the front wheels was leaking pretty bad (made streams in stuck-on sand on rims), few hydraulics hoses were cracked, some leaking at coupling. I think we can address most of these cosmetic and mechanical issues, especially if they become real problems over the years.
No clue about PTO operation because I could not find the PTO lever so I did not see PTO working (where is it?!?).
No clue on hours because the hour meter does not work and is stopped at 35.
Tractor is sold without rear implements, as is, only with the attached loader.
Current asking price is $5800. I did a few searches on this forum and others, and came up with multiple 240Ds in good to fantastic original condition with 2-3 implements that were valued $5300 to $6500 in today's dollars.
What is a fair price to offer for this tractor?
Thank you for your help!
