Is this counterfeit money?

I just received this letter in the mail asking me to be part of a survey and 2 one dollar bills were enclosed as incentive, but they are both alike with the same serial numbers. I thought all money had different serial numbers. Could it be counterfeit?

I can’t imagine you could print a good fake cheaper than $1. So I seriously doubt they are fake.

I wasn't expecting that. Since they were new bills, I thought they would be in consecutive order with the last number different but I guess the feds number them a different way to trap up the counterfeiters.

A friend joked at a Casino and was promptly met by security who escorted him to a private room for about 15 minutes…

The cashier was looking at them and he said just printed this morning.

Welcome to TBN! If you look closer you will note that the 5th digit from the left (or 4th from the right) is different.

One is ***344** and the other is ***334** they are not the same number.

They had two stacks of ones to construct the letter.
I usually get a fiver with my surveys.
IPSOS Research is a legit Media research company. But I'd just take the money and ignore them.
I once filled out one of these and got the next payment, but it was a mistake, as it put me on a Sales Lead List. That list got sold to everyone, and I was getting calls for the next seven years. A more sneaky method is if they send you a check. On the back in very small print, will be language that is actually a contract. "by endorsing this ....... you agree to...." These immediately go to the wood stove.

I remember getting those back in the 80s. A dollar was worth more then.

Common practice for surveys to encourage participation.

Nobody is counterfeiting ones.

The numbers don't match.

At first, I was afraid this was going to be a case of the OP getting a $2 bill and not knowing they exist. There have been several cases of those.
