Received a price of $14,700 on a new JD2520 tractor, Plus $2770 for front end loader (CX200), and $6,390 for JD #46 backhoe.

I would be trading in my 2007 JD2305 (110 hrs.) , with CX200 loader and JD#260 backhoe for a total of $13,160.

The total for the new JD 2520, with loader and backhoe, came to $24,160.00
Minus the $13,160 trade-in leaves a balance of $11,000.00 even.

Do these numbers, including trade-in value, sound fair???

Seems like a terrible deal (100 dollars an hour depreciation) what are you trying to gain?

Definatally sounds like a bad deal to me.

Those prices are way too high for the 2520, hes taking you to the cleaner on your trade, and you still arent gaining hardly any performance.

So why is it you are even considering a trade????????

If your 2305 is too small for what you need or too underpowered, you WONT be happy only stepping up to a 2520 IMO.

I had a 2305, and it seemed like a toy compared to my 2520, so don't believe that a 2520 is hardly more tractor, because its alot more tractor in my opinion.

That price is crazy tho.

Not really.

Frequent small incremental trade ups are good for the dealer but not for you. I would consider keeping what you have and possibly adding a larger 3520 tractor or something similar. Just depends on your needs, I know there are a few times when a small 2305 tlb would be handy, and a few times when a full size hoe would be better to have but I find the 110tlb works well for me 90% of the time. Lots of possibilities but maybe even a 3032 or 3038 without a loader would handle your larger tractor jobs without taking such a hit and would not cost much more than this trade. Just something to consider.

Seems a little high to me...but then again, I am comparing it to nearly 4 year old pricing with no trade-in factor.

I bought my 2520 in Feb of 2007 for $21,000....it included;

200 CX loader
JD Weight Box
46 Hoe (with upgrade to next size larger bucket)
JD Light protectors on ROPS
JD Rear Work Light

The JD 36 month 0% loan at the time helped me make the plunge.

Happy with the setup.....I don't use the hoe a lot but when the need is there, it sure is handy.

Rand,first off,Welcome to TBN.:)
If you could do without a tractor for a while,it would be much better if you sold your 2305 outright. IMO, that trade in "deal" that the dealer is giving you would be fair minus the BH. But even then, with such low hours,it may have even more worth!

I'm in the central part of New York State. With the 2305 tractor it's a bit tricky getting some implements on and off the quick hitch due to the limited category 1 hitch. It also lacks a fine control to adjust the rear hitch height. I'd also like the efficiency of using a tractor with stronger hydraulics. Mind you I like the 2305. It's just after a bit of use I now better understand the differences between the 2305 and the larger 2000 series tractors. Hindsight is always "20/20". Since I had so few hours on my equipment I was hoping to move up without spending a lot of money. I have a Toyota Tacoma pickup that I use to tow the tractor, with a 16' trailer, to a nearby camp so tractor weight and size is also a concern. I pretty much figured that the trade-in price offered was low
considering the low hours and popularity of the 2305. I'll probably just stick with what I have for now.
